It is with heavy hearts that we inform people of the peaceful passing of our oldest beloved son, Shane Michael Leduc, on July 6, 2018 in Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Winnipeg, he was the son of Arthur and Barbara Leduc. Being born into a military family, Shane travelled extensively throughout Europe and Canada. He loved life, and lived it to the fullest. Some of his fondest memories were of trips with friends to Russia, the tearing down of the Berlin wall, skiing on the Alps, and attending rock concerts in Germany. He so enjoyed times spent with his daughter going to Mexico, Calgary Stampede, concerts, and special father/daughter moments with their little dog Dexter. He was a bold soul who fully believed that he held the world in the palm of his hand, and during his 46 year lifespan it seemed at times that he did. Never one to shy away from a challenge, he preferred to face them straight on and more times than not chose the most difficult and less travelled paths in life. He relished the opportunity to prove the impossible with his unconventional ways and risk it all attitude. Always the dreamer, he often asked the question "why not?" before taking on the next challenge in life. Unfortunately, he was unknowingly fighting an internal battle over the last many years, and when it was discovered, he again took on the battle straight on and without hesitation. He amazed doctors, family and friends, in the way he defied the odds and did things his way in battling multiple ailments, but alas while he won many battles his body finally succumbed to a disease. Besides his parents, Shane leaves behind his precious darling daughter Megan Rene, his brother Jay (Amy) and their sons Turner & Ryder and many caring aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends. Shane touched the hearts of many people during his life and had made many long lasting friendships along the way. Please know, dear friends, even though you were unable to be near during his last days, you were always close in thought. His heart was big and it was difficult for him to say "goodbye" to the ones he loved. If it is true that your soul travels to a better place when we pass on, then Shane is likely refusing to go. Never one to pay heed to the status quo, we know he will stay with us all, and especially his daughter and will stay by her side for as long as he is needed. His wisdom and thoughts will come in many forms throughout the years to come, but when we look in our granddaughter's eyes we know we will see some of Shane looking back. In the end wealth is measured not in dollars and assets, but rather in the friends you keep and the people you touch along the way. In looking around at all Shane has accomplished, the friends he made, and the family he cherished, then it can be said he passed away a very wealthy individual. We wish to extend our appreciation of Dr. Paul MacLean for his constant care and assistance when needed. To all the caregivers, nurses, doctors, who were there for us during this difficult time "thank you". Also thank you to our family and friends who offered their support and respected our privacy. In keeping with Shane's wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Shane's life will take place at a later date.
