Obituary

WATTON, Shannon Leona - age 38 years passed away peacefully at home in her Mama's arms on February 3, 2015. Born in Berwick, she was the only child of Marlene (Watton) and Kenny Lohnes of North Williamston. Shannon was the sunshine in our life and will be sadly missed by so many friends and family. She started work as a teen at the new Tim Hortons when it opened in Middleton and later worked for several years as a Manager at their Middleton, Berwick and Bridgetown locations. Shannon worked briefly at the Middleton Save Easy, and then joined the kitchen staff at Pasta Jax with Peter and Bev working along-side her mother. She then moved on to do the same at Applewood Cafe in Wilmot as the night Cook. Shannon felt privileged to cook for so many of her friends and regular customers. She will be remembered for her intelligence, sense of humour and quick wit. Shannon was a brave woman who fought her Melanoma with a positive attitude, trying to educate as many people about the disease as possible. She was a kind and caring soul always ready to help anyone in any way she could. Shannon is survived by uncles, Lloyd (Betty), Stanley (Reta), Kenneth (Sue), David (Karen) and Ronald; aunt, Mary (Jud Foster). Special family, Ann and Ralph Ward, Kingston. Sisters at heart, Shannon McWilliams; Swift Current, Sask. and Krista Doherty, Aylesford; husband, Mike O'Brien, New Minas; father, Gerald Veinot, Aylesford. She was predeceased by maternal grandparents, Isabelle and Howard Watton and paternal grandparents Dorothy and Clifford Veinot. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held 2:00PM, Wednesday, February 11, 2015, in Middleton Funeral Home 398 Main Street (902) 825-3448, with Rev. Donald Rafuse officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Shannon to Carey Me Supporting Palliative Care or the Canadian Cancer Society. Special thanks to the girls on Medical Floor at Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Mid Valley Palliative care team, and the VON's who were all so helpful and caring at this difficult time. We could not have made her so happy without your support and love. Online guest book may be signed by visiting: www.middletonfuneralhome.com
