Obituary

Roop, Sharon Bessie – 80, of Middleton, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, September 11, 2025, in the loving arms of her children. Born in North Range, she was a daughter of the late Cecil Ernest and Bessie Anne (Cook) Haight.

Sharon was a proud Registered Nurse from the Class of 66B at the Victoria General Hospital. She worked most of her career at Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Middleton on Surgical Floor where she looked after her patients with the utmost care and respect. She loved being a nurse. Mom had three children and they were her greatest accomplishment – her pride and joy every single day. The role of grandmother was one that Nana/Grammie cherished the most and it brought her so much happiness to watch each of her four grandchildren grow and find their way in the world. Sharon was a faithful member of the Margaretsville Baptist Church. Her faith was strong and never wavered; it brought us all great strength during these past two weeks. In her later years, Sharon learned to play bridge and we are so thankful for all the wonderful friendships that came from those afternoon gatherings.

Surviving are her children, Melissa Roop-White (Gary Marshall), Kentville; Matthew (Karen) Roop, Middleton; and their father, Chris Roop, Middleton; grandchildren, Em White, Sam Roop, Connor White, and Owen Roop; her siblings, Winston Haight, Boiestown, NB; Caleb (Cathy) Haight, Kingston; Carolyn (Roger) Denton, North Range; Debbie (Ben) Wetmore, Conway; Darlene (Lloyd) Cook, Brighton; many nieces and nephews; extended family, and close friends. In addition to her parents, she has joined her daughter, Natasha, in Heaven.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 13, 2025, in Middleton Baptist Church, Rev. Deann Carter and Rev. Dr. Danny Smith officiating. A reception will follow in the Family Life Centre, and all are welcome. Interment in Pine Grove Cemetery, Middleton. In lieu of flowers please consider donations in Sharon's memory to Margaretsville Baptist Church, Middleton Baptist Church, or Pine Grove Cemetery. The family wishes to thank all the caring people from EHS, Emergency Department and Surgical Floor at Valley Regional Hospital, as well as the Palliative Care Team. Arrangements entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, 1-855-825-3448. Online guestbook may be signed by visiting: www.middletonfuneralhome.com
