Obituary

George, Sheila Jane – 78, of Brow of the Mountain, formerly of Aylesford, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 27, 2024 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Middleton, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence and Helen (Parker) Banks.

Sheila grew up in Wilmot, moved to Dartmouth for many years, and returned to the Annapolis Valley in retirement. She was a member of the Weston Women's Institute and enjoyed rug hooking, dancing and crafting. She loved travelling to Caribbean islands as well as Disney to see her favourite characters. Many winters were spent in Myrtle Beach with Margo and Calvin where hours were spent walking the beach and shopping. Sheila loved to play the guitar and sing with her bestie Barb as they entertained on boats in the Halifax Harbour and at many family weddings. Her sarcastic sense of humour was second to none. Her witty comebacks were strong and opinions were shared freely. While Sheila and Grace watched countless hours Outlander and Bridgerton aka porn! from their recliners at home, a great friendship was found in their golden years.

Surviving are her daughter, Nicole (Bobby) Vaughan, Brow of the Mountain; grandchildren Hailee (Shane) Jordan, Trenton, ON; Ryan Guinchard (Jen Lucas), CBS, Nfld; Madison Vaughan, Brow of the Mountain; Tyson (Shianne) Vaughan, New Germany; great grandchildren Paige, Peyton, and Maisy Jordan, Trenton, ON; Bobby's mother, Grace Vaughan; sisters, Vivian Uniac, Greenwood; and Carolyn (Mike) Newman, Berwick; brother Blair Banks Pictou County; special nieces, Sandra (David) Wasson and Sheila (Robert Bernardo) Newman, all of Berwick; special nephew, Russell (Debbie) Banks, Summerside, PEI; many more nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, "Gus" Robert Charles George; great niece Brianne Newman; and sister, Carol Ann in infancy; sister Audrey and her husband Wylie Connell; brother Jerome and his wife Doreen Banks; brothers-in-law, Donnie George and Patrick Uniac "her Bestie"Barb Cribby.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to all those that provided care for Sheila while she was at home and in the hospital.

Cremation has taken place and there will be no service at this time. Donations in memory may be made of the IWK. Arrangements entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St. 1-855-825-3448.
