SMITH, Sheila Jean – age 70, of Middleton, NS passed away Thursday, June 22, 2017 in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton surrounded by her family. Born in Middleton, she was a daughter of the late James and Theta (Porter) MacGill. Sheila devoted her life to her family. She loved crocheting, knitting and going camping. Sheila loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 48 years Eric Smith, Middleton; sons, Craig (Yelena) Smith, Halifax; Kent (Sheryl) Smith, Nictaux; sister, Sharon (Bill) Alexander, New Glasgow; brother, Dale (Nicole) MacGill, Ottawa; brother-in-law, Brian Connell, Bridgetown; grandchildren, Yanis, Vitusz and Bryce; niece, Noelle MacGill and nephews, Matthew and Dustin Connell. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by sister-in-law, Linda Connell. In keeping with Sheila's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 2:00PM Monday, June 26, 2017 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, (902) 825-3448 with Rev. Leon Langille officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow the service. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Middleton. Donations in memory may be made to the IWK Health Centre or Middleton Fire Department.
