BUCHANAN, Shirley Evora - She was born on May 4, 1923, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, wife of the late WO1 R. Russ Buchanan. Resident of Ottawa, Vancouver, Ramstein, Marville, Bagotville, Toronto, Kelowna, & Nova Scotia. Mom passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2017, in Grand View Manor, Berwick, as a consequence of a broken hip she suffered falling at the end of October.  Mom was not well enough at that time to undergo surgery for the fracture & so was bed ridden the past month.  She was kept comfortable with drugs but her quality of life was not going to improve.  Her passing was very quick and unexpected.  I thought I had more time to let everyone know of her deteriorating condition, but that was not to be.  I see that as a blessing, knowing that the situation didn't drag on for her.  She had been trying to shut down over the past number of months.  She was turning down meals & refusing to participate, even casual contact, with other residents of the Manor.  It was her wish to go & I'm content that she is now with our heavenly Father.  Shirley's last years in Nova Scotia were good times with Sharon & I nearby, & Rob & Bonnie visiting yearly.  94 years packed with friends, family, careers, extensive travel, love, happiness, excitement & adventures.  Mom had a good life & has earned her rest. She was predeceased by her parents, Glenn & Flossie (Sled) Rombough; husband, Russ; daughter, Sharon, son Glenn, & grandson, Andrew.  She is survived by son, Robert, his wife, Sharon & their children, Rob (Kay), & Bonnie (Mike) & their daughter, Bailey Eve; grand-daughter, Amy (Gary) & their children, Eyrn & Aiden; grandson, Don (Cori) & their son, Nickolas; & granddaughter, Kim.
