Shirley Caroline Connell

Connell, Shirley Caroline ~ age 91, of Port George, Nova Scotia, formerly of Brickton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at Heart of the Valley Long Term Care Centre, Middleton. Born in North Williamston, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Velma (Bent) Banks.

Shirley devoted her life to her family and found great joy in raising her children. She loved rug hooking, attending local jam sessions, and, in her younger years, enjoyed square dancing. She treasured the time she spent at Trout Lake and in Port George, where she created many cherished memories with family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Barry (Kathy) Connell, Kentville; Brian "Fuzzy" Connell (Angie), Brickton; Bruce Connell, Port George; Beth (Gordon) Whynot, Inglisville; Bev (Sarah) Connell, Hantsport; and Martha (Todd) Roberts, North Williamston; sisters, Adah Freeman, Kingston, and Gerry (Wayne) Ritchie, Auburn; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her brothers, Garnet Banks, Percy Banks, Raymond "Leroy" Banks, twins Douglas and Donald Banks in infancy, and twins Willard and Wilfred, both in infancy; and sisters, Patricia Conrad, Irene Naugler, and Helen in infancy.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, in Hillside Cemetery, Port George. All are welcome to attend.
