FORTIN (O'Neil), Shirley Beatrice - born April 15, 1931 in Toronto, Ont., Shirley grew up in Lachine, Quebec, working at CBC Montreal when she graduated school. She married André Jules Fortin on May 10, 1952. As a military wife she lived in Ontario, France, Quebec, N.B., and arrived in N.S. in 1967. In April 1972, she opened the Red Sleigh Tack Shop, first, in the back porch of the house, eventually moving it to its present location over the horse barn. An avid gardener, seamstress and former 4-H leader, Shirley also enjoyed her lakeside cottage life, and later on, her backyard salt water pool. She loved her family life, especially her grandchildren, pets, and loved to spend time reading and knitting while sitting in her sunporch. Predeceased by her father, Robert O'Neil; mother, Doris O'Neil (Allchurch); spouse, André Fortin; sons-in-law, Jamie Burton (Kim) and Fred Lewis, (Joanne). Survived by children, Joanne Fortin (Dan Spinney), Carol (Les) Boyd, Kim Fortin, grandchildren, James (Sarah Smith )Boyd, Heather (Chris) Jobe, Caleb Lewis; greatgrandchildren, Owen and Lauren Jobe. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. Memorial service followed by a reception will take place 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 24, in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., toll free 1-855-825-3448, with Rev.
