Guest,"Shirley" Wanford (S.W.) On November 13th, 2014, Shirley went peacefully home to be with his Lord and Saviour. He was born on September 7,1928, in Beaconsfield, Anna.County, Nova Scotia. After working on his dad's farm he discovered his vocation in sales, plumbing and heating, and backhoe construction work: operating his business as S.W. Guest Plumbing and Heating. He was known far and wide in southern Nova Scotia during the days when indoor plumbing became possible. His pride and joy project was the development of Guest Subdivision in Bible Hill, NS, which bears his name today. Through the faithful witness of L.K. McIlwaine, and his sister, Jerusha, Shirley learned of his need of salvation. Shortly after hearing the good news of the gospel; how that a sinner can be made right with God by having his sins forgiven, Shirley was saved. On an early Sunday morning, July 27th, 1947, while reading and musing about Jesus on the cross, Shirley realized that it was for his sins that Jesus had died. It was through the words of John 19:30, "It is finished," that he gained peace with God and in his own heart. He was later baptized and received into fellowship at Brickton Gospel Hall, and later fellowshipped at the Nineveh Gospel Hall. On September 16th, 1952, Shirley married Helen (Hatt) and together they raised four daughters. He is survived by his beloved wife, Helen and children, Lois (Ezra), Doris (Phil), Edith (Carson), Shirleen (Rev); sisters, Jerusha, Anne, Lorna, and Judy; grandchildren, David (Stacey), Robert (Rylea), Scott (Ruth), Allan, Nathan (Brittany), Sarah (Dave), Dan (Santanna), Ben (Danielle), Jason, Fleisha (Shea), Lauryn Mae, and Zion; and 5 great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was pre-deceased by brothers, Joseph, Morris, and Edgar. Shirley lived his life with a consistent love of God and a desire to please God in all that he did. Over the years his faithful attendance to, and interest in, the welfare of fellow Christians, and strangers, attributed to his testimony. He was a loving, loyal husband and father that demonstrated kindness and generosity to all; but especially to those in need. Our family would sincerely like to thank those who cared for Shirley during his last two years while living at Dublin Lane, Ryan Hall, Bridgewater, as well as all who visited and prayed for him during this time. Shirley's family will receive friends for visitation at Nineveh Gospel Hall, 2495 Hwy 208, Nineveh, NS, on Saturday, 2:00pm - 4:00pm. The funeral service will be held at Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, Middleton, NS, on Sunday, November 16th, at 3:00 p.m. with viewing one hour prior to the service. The interment will follow immediately at Church Grove Cemetery, Melvern Square. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home.
