Shirley Joan (Sullivan) Hunt , 94, of Naples, Florida, and Margaretsville, Nova Scotia, Canada, died on June 9, 2023, in Naples, Florida. She was preceded in death by parents, Olaf and Naomi Sullivan; husband, Robert B. Hunt; and sister, Doreen Sullivan Igoe. As we planned this special day together, we tragically lost our brother and Mum's son, Allan Hunt (Patty O'Neill-Holtz), December 9 th , 2023 who was looking forward to Mum's memorial service.
She was born in Wilmot, Nova Scotia, and moved to Watertown, Massachusetts, shortly after the Second World War. Shirley graduated from Watertown High School and went on to become an RN. On December 29, 1951, Shirley married the love of her life, Robert B. Hunt.
Shirley is survived by her sons, Bruce Hunt (Linda-Rider-Hunt) of Omaha, NE; and Brian Hunt of Plattsburg, MO. In addition, there are seven grandchildren, Benjamin Hunt (Amanda Wharton-Hunt), Nicholas Hunt, Molly Hunt-Spisak (Tom Spisak), all of Omaha, Nebraska; Christina Hunt of Dallas, Texas; Jonathan Hunt (Mitch Hunt) of Aurora, Illinois; Matthew Hunt of Olathe, Kansas and Andrew Hunt of Lenexa, Kansas. Shirley also has 13 great- grandchildren, Olivia, Carter, Sophia, Lola, Hayden Wharton-Hunt, Nolan, Sam, and Anthony Spisak all of Omaha, Nebraska, Isla & Declan Hunt of Lenexa, Kansas and Henry Hunt of Lenexa, Kansas.
Memorial service for family and friends will take place at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, July 20 th , 2024, in the Margaretsville United Church of Canada, with Rev. Ian Harrison officiating. A private family service will take place at the gravesite in Bay View Cemetery preceding the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, Shirley would ask you to donate to your favorite charity. Immediately following the service, there will be a reception for family and friends at the Margaretsville Fire Hall.
Shirley cherished her family and friends. She looked forward to coming home to Margaretsville every summer. Her life was a treasure and a blessing, and she will be dearly missed.
