MOIR, Shirley L. ~ of Berwick, Kings Co., passed away on Friday, September 1, 2023, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Berwick, she was the only daughter of the late Charles and Geraldine (Clarke) Nichols. Shirley had been employed at 14 Wing Greenwood for 33 years as a Switchboard Supervisor. She and her husband retired to Berwick. Shirley was a member of Christ Anglican Church, Berwick, Laurel Chapter No. 67, Order of the Eastern Star, Berwick, Athena Temple No. 149, Halifax – Daughters of the Nile, and ZORO Club. She and her husband, Gil curled and played golf together and spent many summers on the South Shore. Shirley loved dancing, swimming, skating, and time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving are her daughter, Heather (Phil) Godfrey, Dartmouth; three grandchildren, Sean and Susan Godfrey, Alberta; Erin Smith, Cole Harbour; five great grandchildren; step granddaughter, Amber Moir, Australia; stepson, John Gillis, New Brunswick; brothers, Edward Nichols, Kentville; and Clarke Nichols, Berwick. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Gilbert Moir, to whom she was married for nearly 40 years and loved dearly; brother, Robert "Bob"; sister-in-law, Olive. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. A private interment service conducted by Rev. Dorothy Miller took place at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 4, in Berwick Cemetery, where she was laid to rest with her husband, Gil. If so wished, donations in her memory can be made to Valley Hospice Foundation, Kentville, or to any charity. Many thanks to Dr. Segato and staff over the years for taking care of mum.
