SMITH (Brenton), Shirley Joyce - age 63, Wilmot, Annapolis Co., passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2014, at home in the presence of her family. Born in Trinity Bonavista Bay, Newfoundland, she was a daughter of the late Hedley and Winnifred (Wiseman) Brenton. Shirley was devoted to her family especially her beloved grandchildren. She dedicated her life to her family and friends. Shirley and her family lived in many places throughout Canada, from one coast to another, but always called the Maritimes home. She had developed a passion for motorcycles and living. Shirley, Brian and their friends spent a great deal of time travelling to different parts of Canada and U.S.A. She has many friends and family throughout North America, who will feel the loss of a great friend and loved one. Shirley was an associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 98 Kingston. In years passed she and her husband had owned and operated the Kingston Diner. Shirley enjoyed many hours spent playing bingo, which was her great passion. Surviving are her devoted husband, Brian I. Smith, Wilmot; daughters, Selma (Tren) Holloway, Labrador City, Labrador; Laura Bent, Berwick; grandchildren, Kyle, Erica, Rebecka and Keaton; sisters, Bernice (Eli) Rideout, Christine (Hubert) Head, Myrtle (Gerry) Holloway, Jacqueline (Max) Coates; brothers, Watson (Neta), Clarence (Maise), all of Newfoundland; Leo (Terri), Ontario; several nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation. Funeral service will take place at 7 p.m., Thursday evening, April 17, in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, (902- 825-3448). Rev. Leon Langille officiating, with a reception to follow. Interment will take place at a later date.
