TAYLOR, Shirley Marie ~ Age 79, Meadowvale, Annapolis Co., passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2019, in VG Site, QEII, Halifax. Born on October 5, 1939, in Carleton Corner, she was a daughter of the late Viola Gillis. Shirley was devoted to her family and friends. She enjoyed camping, cooking and was well known for her baked beans and brown bread. Shirley had been a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 98, Kingston. Surviving are her companion of almost 40 years, Donald Sproule, Meadowvale; daughters, Peggy (Malcolm George) Stingel, Spa Springs; Elizabeth (Carl) MacKenzie, Pugwash; sons, Ansel (Char) Taylor and Dale (Dee) Taylor, both of Calgary, Alta.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Lou Sweet, Kentville; Judy Cress, Clarence; brothers, Robert Durling, Nictaux; John Durling, Kentville; Paul Durling, Wilmot; George Daniels, Liverpool; several nieces and nephews. Besides her mother, she was predeceased by her husband, Gerald Taylor; brothers, Charles and David Durling. There will be no visitation. A graveside service for family and friends will take place at 3 p.m., Tuesday, July 16, in Hillside Cemetery, Port George, with Rev. Leon Langille officiating.
