Obituary

Bambury, Stephen Thomas - 44 of Greenwood, NS, passed away at the Valley Regional Hospital, February 19th, 2024, after a long, courageous and hard fought battle, surrounded by the love of his immediate family.

Stephen was born November 3, 1979, on a cold snowy morning in St. John's NFLD. He was the first son of Gerald and Nancy (Acreman) Bambury.

Sergeant Bambury was a proud serving member of the Canadian Armed Forces for almost 24 years.  His military career granted him the opportunity to travel abroad, make lifelong friendships and develop a plethora of transferable skills. After his regular force time ended, Stephen landed his dream job in the SAR (search and rescue) shop with the Reserves.

In his spare time, Stephen loved spending time with family and friends at the family's slice of heaven on Trout Lake. The cottage was his happy place where he enjoyed early morning breakfasts in the sunroom, kayaking, fishing, campfires, s'mores, breathtaking sunsets and hosting many gatherings with family and friends.

Stephen was a lover of all motorized toys. From his boat, motorcycle, side by side, trucks and cars, you name it, he enjoyed them all. He also had an amazing ability to fix anything and everything. The term handyman was very fitting for this very handy man. He started passing along a few of these skills to his daughter Isabella which couldn't have made him more proud.

Stephen was not only strong and courageous, he was the king of dad jokes, caring, empathetic and nurturing. He was always willing to offer a helping hand. Despite being continuously kicked down these past 16 months, he still got up and lived each day to the best of his ability, inspiring those around him.

Stephen is survived by his ride or die wife, Kimberley; his daughter, Isabella Mae, he was beyond proud of the intelligent, beautiful, thoughtful and humorous young lady she is developing into; his fur baby, Jack; his mother, Nancy (Acreman) Bambury; his sister, Natalie Bambury (James King); his witty brother, Andrew (Anna) Bambury; parents-in-law, Roger and Valerie Davis; brother-in-law, Christopher Davis and sister-in-law, Amy Davis.  Stephen was predeceased by his father, Gerry and his fur babies, Nova and Sophie.
