Stephen Thomas
Lane
January 16, 1968 – September 25, 2025
Stephen Thomas Lane
16/01/1968-25/09/2025
It is with deep sorrow that the family and close friends of Stephen Thomas Lane "Steve" announce his sudden passing at his home in Nictaux, Nova Scotia on September 25, 2025. He was 57 years old.
Steve was born and raised in Grand Falls – Windsor, NL, where he attended Grand Falls Academy. After graduation, Steve joined the militia, becoming a member of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment B Company in 1986, which led to his finding not only a successful career but also a solid camaraderie that evolved into close friendships that would last a lifetime.
His military career took him to Corner Brook, NL, Gagetown, NB, and Kentville, NS, from where he retired in 2019 after more than 32 years of proud service. Following his retirement, Steve became a commissionaire at CFB Greenwood where he was a well- loved and much respected gate guard.
In his free time, Steve enjoyed upcycling pallets, working on "bro-jects" with his buddy Danny, watching movies, pulling silly pranks, and spending time (especially mealtimes) with his close friends and their families.
Steve was predeceased by his mother, Vivian (2022), who considered him her pride and joy. Left behind in sadness but with cherished memories is his Newfoundland family — his uncle Allan (Marilyn) and their family; his aunt Debby and her family; his aunt Leah, with whom he grew up like a little brother; his grandmother Bernice, who helped raise him like a son; and a wide circle of extended family members. Also left in grief but with treasured memories is Steve's close network of friends, who shared in the life he built himself in the Annapolis Valley. An especially notable void has been left in the lives of his best friends, Danny and Sharon Lewis, who had become his second family over the years. For decades, Steve was woven into their daily lives — and those of their children and grandchildren, as their number one "Funcle," loved by all. He will be fondly remembered and forever missed.
