Stephen G. McBurney passed away in Victoria General Hospital, Halifax, on March 20, 2021. He was 52 years old. As a teenager growing up beside the Bay of Fundy he would spend an occasional Saturday hitching a ride with one of the local fishers and head out for a fishing adventure on the Bay. On completing high school he worked in the construction industry for a few years. But the lure of the sea returned so he decided to go back to school, and attended the NSCC to successfully complete the program in Marine Navigation. After graduation he immediately found employment on ships and worked from the North Atlantic to the Panama Canal. After a few years of this he decided to settle back in Nova Scotia and began a new career by opening his own very successful company performing insulation and stucco work, taking contracts from Sydney to Yarmouth. He loved this work and stayed with it until a few weeks before his passing. Predeceased by his mom Marie-Paule Caron, this quiet gentleman will be missed by dad, Grant; stepmom, Mary; sisters Erica (Adib) Roy, and Renee Caron, as well as by many cousins, aunts and uncles. Stephen supported several charities such as the Police Association of Nova Scotia, and the Philae Shriners. Donations in his memory to one of these organizations would be appreciated. Adolescent, grandissant près de la baie de Fundy, il passait un samedi de temps en temps à faire du stop avec l'un des pêcheurs locaux et partait pour une aventure de pêche dans la baie. À la fin de ses études secondaires, il a travaillé dans l'industrie de la construction pendant quelques années. Mais l'attrait de la mer est revenu alors il a décidé de retourner à l'école et a assisté au NSCC pour terminer avec succès le programme de navigation maritime. Après avoir obtenu son diplôme, il a immédiatement trouvé un emploi sur des navires et a travaillé de l'Atlantique Nord au canal de Panama. Après quelques années, il décida de s'installer en Nouvelle-Écosse et commença une nouvelle carrière en ouvrant sa propre entreprise très prospère effectuant des travaux d'isolation et de stuc, prenant des contrats de Sydney à Yarmouth. Il adorait ce travail et y resta quelques semaines avant son décès. Prédécédé par sa maman Marie-Paule Caron, ce gentilhomme tranquille manquera à papa, Grant; belle-mère, Mary; les soeurs Erica (Adib) Roy et Renee Caron, ainsi que de nombreux cousins, tantes et oncles. Stephen a soutenu plusieurs organismes de bienfaisance tels que la Police Association of Nova Scotia et les Philae Shriners. Des dons en sa mémoire à l'une de ces organisations seraient appréciés.
