It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Susan Maxine (Johnston, née Sheldrick) of Aylesford, Kings County, Nova Scotia, who peacefully left us on Friday, May 9, 2025, at Valley Hospice in Kentville, with her beloved husband by her side. She was 66 years old.
Born on June 16, 1958, in Halifax, Susan was the daughter of the late William R. "Bill" and Mary J. (McGray) Sheldrick. Throughout her life, she found joy in working as a farm labourer at various locations, embracing her love for the land and animals. An avid animal lover, Susan cherished all creatures, especially her beloved horse Abby.
In her free time, Susan delighted in cross-stitching, knitting, and engaging in crafts, finding peace and fulfillment in her creative pursuits. Her warm spirit and gentle nature touched all who knew her.
Susan is survived by her husband of 33 years, Martin R. McInnis; daughters Jennifer Johnston of Kentville and Donna Johnston; her cherished grandchildren; sister Catherine Campbell of Kingston; brothers William "Bill" Sheldrick of Glasgow, Scotland, and Joseph Sheldrick of Kingston; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
There will be no visitation or funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Susan's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Valley Hospice Foundation.
