Obituary

POWER, Susan Louise ~ Age 64, of Wilmot, Annapolis Co., passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2024, peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. Born on March 28, 1960, in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late James S. and Ruby A. (Cross) Higney.

Susan graduated from Dartmouth High School. She lived in many places across the country including Petawawa, ON; Edmonton, AB; Gander, NL; Summerside, PEI and Comox, BC. She enjoyed gardening, walking and hiking, playing cards, and especially time spent with friends and family. Susan was a homemaker while her family was young, and her love and dedication to family (near and far) was her priority throughout her life.

Once settled home in Nova Scotia, Susan worked as a bartender at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 98, Kingston, where she was known for her incredible sense of humour, unforgettable presence, and kindness to all.

Surviving are daughter, Allison Power, Kentville; son, Kenneth Ian Power, Wilmot; sisters, Judy (Bruce Thomas) Higney, Dartmouth; Bonny (Myles) Higney Mumford, Noel; Holly Higney Cowan, Salmon Arm, B.C.; Shelley Higney Bacon, Dartmouth; brother, Wayne, Chilliwack, B.C.; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by husband, Kenneth J. Power, and eldest sister, Jane Higney Smith.

Cremation has taken place. At Susan's request, there will be no visitation or memorial service. A private celebration of her life will take place at her residence. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

The family would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses who provided exceptional care over the last few months, and special thanks to Janet from Palliative Care. They would also like to thank her good friend Louise Mantha for her friendship and support.
