Sylvia "Rhona" Veinotte

VEINOTTE, Sylvia “Rhona” ~ Age 85, of Nicholsville, Kings Co., N.S., passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her children, on Friday, April 3, 2026, in Valley Hospice, Kentville. Rhona was the oldest child of the late Aubrey and Anna (Watton) Slauenwhite. She was born on her grandparents’ farm in Victoria Harbour, on June 3, 1940. She attended the one-room schoolhouse in Auburn and then West Kings District High School when it opened in 1956.

Rhona retired from Huyck Canada/Weavexx after 35 years of service. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, sewing, embroidery and shopping at Frenchys. She adored her fur babies, Orleigh and Decker. Her greatest joy came from visits and face-time chats with her great grandchildren, Aubrey, Lennyn and Ryker.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Ervine; her son, Stephen; and daughter, Colleen; also much-loved grandchildren, Melanie, Aaron, Ashleigh (Pamela) and Larissa (Bailey). She is also survived by her sister, Theresa (Harvey) Freeman; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her oldest son, Larry; grandson, Liam; brother, Robert “Bobby”; and nephew, Corey Freeman.

The family would like to extend their heart-felt gratitude to E.H.S. paramedics, Connor and Eric; Doctors Suitor, MacDonald and MacNeil, whose support helped them through last week’s medical crisis. As well as thanks to Valley Hospice for their compassionate end-of-life care. Sincere appreciation is also extended to Dr. Ross, social worker, Janelle, and the Alzheimer Society for their support and encouragement during their Alzheimer journey.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 6, in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, toll free 1-855-825-3448. Mr. Rodney Veinotte officiating, with interment in Morristown Cemetery. A reception to follow in Nicholsville Community Hall, 413 Victoria Road, Nicholsville. In lieu of flowers, donations would be gratefully received by Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or Valley Search and Rescue, two charities close to the family’s heart.
