GASS, Teresa Ann "Tootie" ~ age 88, of Shad Bay / Kingston, passed peacefully on June 2, 2019, while living at the Heart of the Valley Long Term Care Centre in Middleton. Teresa was the only daughter of the late Walter and Gladys (Devlin) Hoar. She attended NSCAD after graduating from St. Pats High School in Halifax. Her true passion for oil painting took flight and she studied with many well-known artists, including William DeGarth and Anthony Law. Her bespoke paintings are now world-wide. She was a long time parishioner of St Joseph's Church in Shad Bay, and very much enjoyed her time being the chair of the Home and School Association at Atlantic Memorial Elementary School. She joined Maritime Tel & Tel in the Head Office, where she was so proud to have worked. Mum, as most young women of her time, also took on life's biggest profession of being a mother to five children. She was a force to reckon with and kept all five of us in school, fed, mothered, and most importantly, loved. We will all miss her terribly. In her retirement years Teresa enjoyed traveling and took trips to the Yukon, British Columbia, the northern United States, and Scotland. Mum is survived by her children, Donalda "Donna"; Ralph (Kay), Gerry (Doris), Robert and Patrick; grandchildren, Angelene (Jonathan), Matthew (Melody), Patrick, Jeremy, Caitlyn, and Madison; great-grandchildren, Abigail, Matthew, Anna, Sophie, and Bennett. Mum was predeceased by her husband Blanchard "Babe" Gass and her brother, John "Jack" Hoar. Special thanks to Dr. Saxon, nurses, and staff at the Heart of the Valley Long Term Care Centre for their compassion and care. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. A Funeral service will be held at 1 PM on Tuesday, July 2 ^nd at St Joseph's Church, 3709 Prospect Rd, Shad Bay, followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cemetery Committee at St Joseph's Church in Shad Bay.
