Obituary

SLATER, Theadore Dwain "Ted" – Age 88, of Leamington, Ontario, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 11, 2024, in Camp Hill Veterans Memorial Building, Halifax, NS. Born on January the 13th, 1935, in Leamington, ON, he was the son of the late Maxine Slater. Ted left Leamington and joined the Canadian Military at an early age. Ted subsequently served 35 years in the military, achieving the distinguished rank of Chief Warrant Officer. During his service, Ted deployed on Peacekeeping missions several times to Cyprus, and three times to Egypt. Ted also lived in Europe, Ontario, B.C., and Nova Scotia throughout his life. Ted had a passion for the outdoors, reading about history, and collecting Military badges. Surviving are his children, Lori Sudsbear (John Sudsbear); and Richard Scott Slater (Colleen Slater); his grandchildren, Jessica Sudsbear (Aaron Ackles); and Justin Sudsbear (Rosie Rankin); great grandchildren, Declan Sudsbear-Ackles and Mary Jane Rankin. Besides his mother, he was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Donna R. Slater (nee Congdon); and son, Mark Slater. A private service will take place at a later date in Leamington, ON. Donations in his memory may be made to Camp Hill Veterans Hospital, Halifax N.S.
