Obituary

TAYLOR, Major Ted E. (Ret'd)

Of New Albany, NS passed away 11 June 2019 at the Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Truro NS, he was the son of the late Theodore A. and Dorothy (Mayo) Taylor. Ted attended Acadia University while completing the RCAF ROTP program, and graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce. While at university he was the leader of the dance band, playing the saxophone and clarinet, and was the captain of the swim team.

During his 33 year career as a pilot, he flew CF100s, Voodoos, Trackers, and Auroras. He served various posts in Canada, Marville, France, and Williams Air Force Base AZ. Ted also served as Aide- de-Camp to the Lt. Gov. J. Shaffner, as well as a 6 month tour in the Golan Heights with a UN peacekeeping force.

Ted loved the outdoors. He spent his retirement in his woodlot and gardens, and ran a Christmas tree farm. Ted volunteered with the Greenwood Military Aviation Museum, Service Clubs and various charities. He was a trustee of the Albany Community Church and played an active role in helping out in various ways.

He is survived by his wife Margo; children Terry (Tim), Jordan (Meridyth), and Natalie (David); grandson Dylan (Dee); sister Marilyn (Duncan MacLennan), brother James, and nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or service; rather a Celebration of Life will occur at a later date.  Donations in Ted's memory may be made to War Amps, Red Cross, or a charity of your choice.
