Obituary

BLACK, Thomas Clifford ~ age 81 of Bridgetown, NS passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2025, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Amherst, NS he was the oldest son of Ovide (Blackie) and Catherine (Miner). Tom was a member of the Bridgetown Baptist Church, a curler, broom ball player and loved his cottage at Trout Lake, New Albany, NS. He and Twila travelled quite a bit through the years, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Alberta, British Columbia, USA, Australia, Hong Kong, Rome, Hawaii and Montreal, Quebec. Tom worked at United Elastic, later called Britex, for 39 years later becoming a part owner. On retiring in 1998, he worked for 10 years at Mountain Gap Inn, Smith's Cove, NS as Maintenance Manager. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Twila (Bent); son, Andrew (Violet), Nictaux, NS; son-in-law, Fred (Colleen) Williams, Alberta; granddaughters, Allison (Jon), Canning, NS; Melissa (Nick), Alberta; grandson, Kyle Taylor, Bridgetown, NS; great grandson, Jaxon Wagner; great granddaughters, Addison Wagner and Robin Jessome; brothers, Bob, Dartmouth; Gerald (Geri), Lawrencetown, NS; sisters-in-law, Terri (Darrell) Petley, Paradise, NS; Trudy Inglis, Bridgetown, NS; brother-in-law, Ted Bent, Bridgewater, NS; cousins, nieces, nephews and wonderful friends. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Kimberly Williams; sister-in-law, Jane Black; brothers-in-law, Tony Bent; Malcolm Inglis and nephew, Nathan Bent. In keeping with Tom's wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held 1:00PM-4:00PM Saturday, April 5, 2025 in Royal Canadian Legion, Bridgetown Branch. This will be a casual gathering with light refreshments. All are welcome. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Bridgetown at a later date. Donations in memory may be made to Crohns & Colitis Foundation, Parkinson Society Nova Scotia or Alzheimer Society – Support Dementia Research.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home 398 Main St. toll free 1-855-825-3448.
