Bleakley MWO, Thomas James "Jim" – 90 of Berwick, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, in Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, as a child he moved with his family to Surrey BC.  He was the son of the late Thomas Irvine and Elrissa (Ella) Bleakley.

Surviving is his wife of 61 years, Anne (Kinsman), daughter Lynne (Steve) Pullen, Berwick, son Thomas "Tom" Bleakley, Langley, BC, grandson Matthew Pullen (Mackenzie Parker), Halifax and granddaughter Nikki Routley, Vancouver.  Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother Irvine, in childhood.

Jim joined the Royal Canadian Air Force at the young age of 17.  He enjoyed several postings, his favorite was Greenwood, NS where he married Anne in 1963.  They too enjoyed many postings including Germany, Trenton and Moose Jaw before their last posting to Ottawa.  Jim retired from the Military in 1983 after 31 years of Service.  He continued at National Defence in the same capacity for 12 more years, retiring in 1995.  Their final move was to Berwick, in 2002 where they built their house on Gravenstein Drive.  After travelling the world during his career, he spent his retirement travelling the world to reconnect with first cousins in places such as Hawaii, Mexico and New Zealand. He also enjoyed wintering in Florida for many years.

A graveside service will take place 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 12, 2025, in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, 4683 Brooklyn Street, Berwick with Rev. Mary Jo Harrison officiating. For your comfort, please bring a chair if you wish, some will be provided as well. Donations in memory may be made to Evergreen Home Resident Society.
