Vera May
Beals
August 20, 1929 – October 13, 2022
Vera May Beals, 93, of Tibbetts Home for Special Care (Wilmot) formerly of Nictaux Falls, passed away in the early morning hours of October 13, 2022. She was born in Hebron, Yarmouth Co. to the late Curtis and Lottie (Marshall) Haight.
Vera was a very outgoing person and during her life she was very involved in volunteer work in the community and in the church. Vera had many past times and loved having friends and family drop in for a visit or a game of cards. She spent many hours playing cards with her grandchildren, they all had to learn how to play crib. She also enjoyed doing crosswords which she started doing as a child and continued doing throughout her life. Reading was another favorite pastime and later in life she discovered the Blue Jays and watching their games. At the age of 85 she discovered a new interest the IPad and had so much enjoyment talking to her friends and family on her Facebook, FaceTime and playing crib with friends. Roy and Vera enjoyed travelling to visit family and friends in different parts of the country and the world. They also loved going to the cottage with the family.
Vera spent the last 3-1/2 years at Tibbetts and enjoyed her time there immensely. She spent hours playing all the games she wanted. The staff would make sure she got her activities in and she even played cards the day her health started to deteriorate. We cannot thank the caregivers and the staff there enough for the care she received. They went well above and beyond to make her last few days as comfortable as possible. We know they will miss her and she loved them all.
Her body is with the Dalhousie Human Body Donation Program, as per her wishes.
She was preceded by her husband, Roy; and her siblings, Beatrice. Florence, Georgie, Donald and Keith, and her step-father, Warren Haight. She is survived by her children Gary, (Suzanne), Gail (Wil) Van Gestel and Crystal (George) Burrell. A grandmother to Jay, Nichola, Jesse, Gregory (Kristina), Susie and Jimmy (Rhonda). A great grandmother to Maya and Jonathan, Rachel, Owen.
