Vicki Marlene Rowter - MacLeod

It is with unimaginable sadness and broken hearts we announce the sudden passing of our beautiful Vicki Marlene Rowter-MacLeod of Aylesford, Kings Co., NS, on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at the age of 69. Born on February 23, 1957, Vicki was raised in Melvern Square, NS, and was the cherished daughter of Marlene Rowter, of Melvern Square, and the late Clark Rowter.

To know her was to know genuine kindness, warmth, and love. She was the kind of person who cared deeply, loved completely, and made the lives of those around her better simply by being in them. She had an incredible heart, a beautiful soul, and a way of making those she loved feel safe, supported, and cared for.

Above everything, family was her world. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and the very best friend anyone could ask for. Being a mother was one of the greatest joys of her life, and the bond she shared with her children was truly something special. She was their best friend, their safe place, and the person they could turn to for anything. Her grandchildren brought her tremendous happiness. Known lovingly as Grammie, she treasured watching them grow, was always up for anything, and never missed an opportunity to spoil them. The love she had for family was immeasurable.

Caring for others was truly part of who Vicki was. After graduating from the Nova Scotia School of Nursing in 1976, she devoted an incredible 46 years of her life to nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse, working at various hospitals including Western Kings Memorial in Berwick, Valley Regional in Kentville, and Soldiers’ Memorial in Middleton. Her career perfectly reflected her hardworking, compassionate and selfless nature. She touched countless lives and gave so much of herself to caring for others. Nursing was more than simply her profession—it was an extension of the person she was at heart.

Vicki had an extraordinary love for animals. To her, they were never just pets—they were family, deeply loved and completely spoiled. Her animals brought her endless comfort and happiness, and held such a special place in her heart.

Vicki found so much happiness in the simple things she loved most. She loved being outdoors, especially spending time in her flower gardens, and there was nothing quite like a beautiful day at the beach or by the pool. She loved sporting events, exhibitions, fairs and concerts, and some of her happiest memories were made enjoying them with the people she loved. At home, she loved reading, cooking and baking, always making something delicious to share, with family gathered around her table. She had a beautiful way of finding joy in life and sharing it with everyone around her.

Her absence leaves a space that can never truly be filled. She will be missed in the everyday moments—the phone calls, conversations, laughter, advice, outings, traditions, and all the little things that made life with her so special. Although her time here was far too short, the love she gave and the memories she created will remain forever.

Vicki leaves behind her loving husband, Robbin MacLeod; children, Cody (Kelly), Kelsey (Carl), Kailey (Adriano); stepchildren, Jake (Nicole), Jeff (Tyra); grandchildren, Bella, Chloe, Cordelia, Liam, Margo, Jack, Lily, Belle; mother, Marlene; siblings, Pam (Harry), Angee (Greg), Brad (Roslyn); and her cherished animals, Ralph, Owen, and Anna, along with many extended family members and friends who loved her dearly.

She is now reunited with those who went before her, including her beloved father, who we know was waiting for her with the biggest welcome.

There will never be enough words to describe how loved Vicki was or how deeply she will be missed. Life will never be quite the same without her, but she will live on in every story told, every laugh remembered, and in the hearts of everyone fortunate enough to have known her.

All are welcome to attend a service in celebration of Vicki’s life that will take place at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 5, in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, toll free 1-855-825-3448, with a reception to follow. Interment will be in Church Grove Cemetery, Melvern Square.
