Victor Ettinger of Kingston, NS passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown at the age of 80 after an extended illness. Born on May 10th, 1933 in Georgefield, NS, Victor was the son of Nelson and Mildred Ettinger (McFetridge). Victor is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Geraldine (Pyne), daughter Pamela (Chris), son Doug (Sharon), grandchildren Colin Walker, Laurel Ettinger and Rachel Ettinger. He is also survived by his sisters, Katherine Douglas of Halifax, Shirley Johnson of Sydney and Freda Welner of Moncton. He was predeceased by his parents and his brothers William Ettinger, Georgefield, NS and Albert Ettinger, Hardwood Lands, NS. Victor was a devoted husband and loving father who cared deeply for his family. He was a very kind, friendly and respected person who was well liked by all in his community. Victor was steady, selfless and compassionate and he was always a perfect gentleman. He joined the D.A.R/C.P Railway in 1951 where he enjoyed a wonderful 37year career including station master roles in several locations between Yarmouth and Windsor, NS. Victor was an avid golfer at Paragon Golf Club and a longtime member of the Kingston Lions Club where he volunteered extensively. One of the greatest joys of his retirement was spending time at his Trout Lake cottage and working in his favorite vegetable garden. Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m., Tuesday, August 20th at the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, (902) 825-3448 beginning with a Lion's Club Memorial Service at 7 o'clock. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, August 21st at the All Saints Anglican Church, 521 Pleasant Street in Kingston, Reverend Michael McKeage officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall/basement. Interment will take place in the North Kingston Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or a charity of your choice.
