Viktor
Szick
January 30, 1942 – July 7, 2020
Viktor Szick, age 78, died on July 7, 2020, at home in Wilmot, NS.
Viktor Szick was a son, brother, husband, father, step-father, step-grandfather, partner, friend, teacher, fisherman, music lover, food lover, F1 race fan, Expos fan, motorcyclist, speeder, soup maker, joke maker, bingo aficionado, and a proud Hungarian, among other things. In short, Victor was a character.
He never missed the opportunity to try to make someone laugh with a cheezie joke or comment, and always succeeded in amusing himself, if no one else, as was evident by his trademark laugh. He also loved spreading joy through making traditional Hungarian dishes for friends and family and, over the last few years, took great pride in the reception his soups received at the Kingston United Church luncheons.
Viktor managed to squeeze in a final game of bingo at the drive-in just a week before his death and had plans to go again the day he passed. He also had plans to saddle-up a Vespa and go for a spin this summer (though, no one was sure where the oxygen tank was going to sit). Death likely didn't change his plans, though he probably swapped the Vespa for a BMW and raced his brother Louis to the game.
Viktor is survived by daughters Veronica and Carolyne, step-children John and Sylvie, their children, Priscilla, Savannah, Adrian, and his two nieces, Kathleen and Carly. Viktor was also blessed to have shared his last few years with partner Terry, who loved and cared for him until his passing.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made, in Viktor's name, to the Canadian Diabetes Association, or to the Kingston United Church, who accepted Viktor into their community even though he may have missed service to watch a Sunday race now and then.
