It is with great sadness we announce that Walter "Sonny" Robar passed away on May 13, 2023 while in the Valley Regional Hospital from complications due to pneumonia. Sonny was born on July 17, 1941 and was a longtime resident of Meadowvale, NS. Sonny was the son of the late Leon Lovett and Hattie (Bennett) Robar of Torbrook. Sonny was predeceased by his longtime partner, Joyce Charlton; brothers Harold and Henry; sister Leona Myers; half-brother Leland "Wimpy" Parker. He is survived by his daughter Patricia Robar, Meadowvale, whom he loved dearly; brothers Kenneth Robar, Nictaux; Charlie Robar, Sarnia, ON; many cousins; and his furry cat, Spirit. Sonny worked at various jobs throughout his life but his real passion was building things and woodworking. His hobbies included working around his shop, building anything with wood, as well as gardening and playing cards. In his younger days, he loved to help people in any way he could. Sonny, or "Sunshine" or "Sonny Bubbles" as he was sometimes called, loved to go for drives to no where in particular and loved watching his tv shows with his cat, Spirit. He loved watching oxen; his favorite book was about oxen, and he had several carved oxen ornaments. He was happy-go-lucky and loved to joke. Sonny will be dearly missed and always in our hearts. Graveside service will be held 1:00PM Monday, July 31, 2023 in Nictaux Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Lung Association.
