Wayne Eugene
Bent
May 22, 1938 – June 21, 2024
BENT, Wayne Eugene ~ Age 86, of Clarence West, Annapolis Co., passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family who were in awe of his bravery with the assistance of the MAID program. He was known as the wisest person in the room with a heart of gold. He is survived by loving wife and best friend of 61 years, Joyce (Lawrence) Bent. He is predeceased by his father Albert Eugene Bent and mother Hazel Beatrice (Young) Bent of Young's Cove. Beside his parents, he was also predeceased by sister, Faye (Carl) Young, of Belleisle.
He is also survived by his children, Stephen (Catherine) Bent, of Halifax; Sandra (Daniel) Kaulbach, of Morse Road; Shelley (Ron) Taylor, of Clarence; Shawn Bent youngest son and best buddy, at home.
Wayne was lovingly known as "Bumpy" to his grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many friends and family who knew him. He is survived by his grandchildren, Kelly (Candace), Kyla, Cole; Andrew (Melissa), Matthew, Ryan (Morgan); Kaley (Dave), Karley (Reec); and great grandchildren Drakyn and Aurora; all of whom brought lots of joy to Bumpy; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Wayne was employed for 37 years at Britex (Elastic Plant) and also raised beef and dairy cattle. In his retirement he enjoyed many hours of woodworking and many of the items he made still adorn his family's homes. He also enjoyed helping babysit his grandchildren. Bumpy was a family man who cherished his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Whatever they were involved with, Bumpy was surely there to watch; from horse shows to soccer, to baseball, as well as travelling throughout Canada to watch his grandchildren play hockey. He also enjoyed spending many hours outside with his family where he was most happy.
Thank you to all the nurses, doctors and paramedics at Middleton and Kentville Hospitals, and VON. A huge thank you to Kirk Lycett for bending over backwards for Wayne and his family. Thank you to all family, relatives, and friends for their support.
At this time Wayne's family would like to thank Dr. Hillary Lavelle for allowing his final wish to take place which was to be at home and die with dignity, free of pain, surrounded by his family.
There will be no visitation or service at his request. Private interment will take place at a later date. Donations in his memory may be made to the I.W.K. Health Centre Foundation, Bridgetown Volunteer Fire Department or the charity of your choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., Toll Free: 1-855-825-3448.
