It is with heavy hearts and deep-felt sadness that we announce the passing of Wayne Douglas Cathcart, 78, of Greenwood, Nova Scotia.  He passed away peacefully in Valley Regional Hospital on January 17, 2025 with his wife by his side.  Wayne is survived by his loving wife Sandra (nee Lynch), brother Iran and sisters Joan, Sharon, Thelma, and brother-in-law Pat (Donna), Kemptville, ON.

Wayne was predeceased by his parents, Bill and Reta Cathcart, brothers Bernie, Sheldon, and Bill, sister Florence and brother-in-law Donald.

Wayne proudly served his country for 31 with the Canadian Armed Forces as a Military Policeman taking posts in Canada and Europe, with tours to Cyprus and Syria.  He loved playing and watching sports, baseball, hockey and broomball.  Later in life he took up golf and curling.  He loved golf and all his golfing "Buddies". Wayne was also active in the Kingston Legion where he was Bar Chair, participated in the yearly "Goldenaires" Golf Tournament and enjoyed the 'Friday night group'.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, 1-855-825-3448.  As per Wayne's wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, January 23 at 1:00 p.m. in the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 98, 1472 Veteran's Lane, Kingston, NS.

Sandra would like to thank Drs Parker and Woo, and all the ICU staff in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville for their compassion and unconditional care.  Special thanks to Patsy Rawding for being there through a difficult day.
