Obituary

WHYNOTT, Wayne David ~ Age 73, of South Greenwood, Kings Co., passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 31, 2023.  He was born on May 26, 1950, in Berwick, Kings Co., and later became the much-loved son of Russell and Marjorie (Hatt) Whynott. Wayne was a kind and compassionate person, always looking for ways to help others in whatever capacity he could. He was a fun-loving person, enjoyed catching up with relatives he hadn't seen in a while, old friends, neighbors and always welcomed the chance of making new friends with people he met along the way. During his lifetime, he worked at a variety of places including Portland Electrics, the Metropolitan, G.N. Reagh, Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Eastern Bakeries and finally finishing out his career at the QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax. He really enjoyed his retirement years as he finally got to do what he wanted to do and when he wanted to do it. He and his furry canine best friend Dakota would have many playful hours together and take numerous long walks along the trails. He also took great pleasure in going for long bike rides and seeing the countryside from a different perspective. Surviving are his wife of 26 years, the former Alice Bennett; his sons, Sheldon, Bruce and Mathew; sisters, Wanda and Marie; brother, Steve; aunts and uncles, Heather and Bob McDougall; Enos "Sonny" Hatt; Alberta and Chris Beach; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his father and mother, Russell and Marjorie, he was predeceased by birth parents, Lester and Mary; brother, Allan.
