DOBBIN, William Arthur-64, of Nictaux West, passed away Friday June 21, 2013 at home. Born in Corner Brook, Newfoundland, he was the oldest surviving son of the late Arthur and Winnifred (Young) Dobbin. Bill's working career was as a seaman for 42 years, with the last 20 years being with the Canadian Coast Guard. He enjoyed carpentry work and had just completed his first children's story book entitled Oliver and Friends. Bill is survived by his wife, Linda (Penney), Nictaux West; son and daughter-in-law Paul and Dee (Dobbin) Pike, Alaska, United States; daughter, Lisa Marie Dobbin, ON; sisters, Lena (Johnny) Gills, Barrie, ON; Marion (John) Burton, Brantford, ON; Rose (Fred) Rideout, Windsor, NS; brothers, Frank Dobbin, Nictaux, NS; Gerald (Sue) Dobbin, Oshawa, ON; three grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and many nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts, and uncles, here in the province, in Ontario and in Newfoundland. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brother, Bernard Dobbin, sister Gertrude (Beevor) Dobbin and his beloved dog Princess. Bill was loved and cherished by many very close friends, especially by Donna Burton, Thomas Lee, and all his friends at the Coast Guard. Visitation will be held at 7:00 to 9:00PM Monday June 24, 2013 at the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, Middleton, (902) 825-3448. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00AM, Thursday June 27, 2013 at St. Monica's Roman Catholic Church, Middleton. A reception for family and friends will follow the service in the church hall.
