Obituary

It is with great sadness that we the family announce the passing of William Harold "Bill" Woodman of New Minas, Kings Co., N.S. Bill passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on Saturday, December 13, 2025, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, at the age of 80. Born on November 2, 1945, in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, Bill was the son of the late Gordon and Leota (Kaizer) Woodman.

Bill is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, the former Gloria P. Legge; his daughters, Pamela Woodman (Stuart Carson), Halifax; Paula Woodman-Baker (James), Halifax; and Nadine Robicheau (Harley), Centreville; his cherished grandchildren, Lucas and Brooklyn; Evelyn "Evie", and Jacob; and his sister, Betty Woodman (Bill Buchanan), Kentville.

Bill's life was built on hard work, kindness, and a deep commitment to helping others. Growing up on the family dairy farm instilled in him a strong work ethic that carried throughout his life. Later he began his career in the funeral industry, eventually owning and operating his own funeral business, Digby Funeral Home. After retiring from that work, his entrepreneurial spirit led him to operate a trucking business.

A proud and active member of the Lions Club for decades, Bill served as Zone Chairman for many years — a role he truly enjoyed. Through his volunteer work (Lower Horton Cemetery), he touched countless lives, always ready to lend a hand, share a story, or offer a word of encouragement. Bill will be remembered for his generosity, dedication to community, and love for his family. His legacy will live on in the many people whose lives he enriched.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home. A service in celebration of Bill's life will take place at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 22, in Orchard Valley United Church, 130 Cornwallis Ave., New Minas. Rev. Don Sellsted officiating, with a reception to follow. Interment will take place in Lower Horton Cemetery, Grand Pré.  Donations in his memory may be made to Orchard Valley United Church, New Minas, or to Port Williams & District Lions Club.
