COWEN, William "Ross"- aged 66 passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton surrounded by family. Born in Haliburton, ON, he was a son of the late Norman and Winnifred (Gainforth) Cowen. Ross operated Cowen's Service Centre, Paradise for 20 years and really enjoyed people and seeing his customers. He was a volunteer for Cancer Connection and loved woodworking and showing his ponies at various exhibitions. Ross loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren who called him "Papa". He was a great husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He is survived by his wife of 18 years the former Victoria Nevers; daughters, Wanda (Richard) Baker, Paradise; Corinne Walsh, Halifax; Tiffany Walsh, Paradise; sons, Corey (Sabrina) Cowen, Whitby, ON; James Walsh, Wolfville; sisters, Marie (Adrian) Whitfield, Haliburton, ON; Marlene Lavallee, Ottawa; brother, Lloyd (Betty Lou) Cowen, Whitby, ON; grandchildren; Mary Grace Baker; Abigail Elizabeth Baker and Ty David James Walsh and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by son, Jason Walsh; brother, Arnold (Pearl) and first wife, Mary Banks. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held 6:00 PM to 8:00PM, Thursday, December 5, 2013 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, (902) 825-3448. A Memorial Service will be held 2:00PM, Friday, December 6, 2013 in the Paradise United Baptist Church, with Rev. Mark Reece officiating. Interment will be in Paradise Cemetery. A reception for family and friends will follow the service in the Paradise Community Hall.
