BARKHOUSE, William Earl "Bill" - 73 of Moshers Corner, Annapolis County was welcomed to his eternal home by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, March 12, 2011 in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Upper Burlington, Hants County on September 10, 1937, he was a son of the late Earl and Edith (Hazel) Barkhouse. Bill attended school in Stanley, Hants County and High School in Windsor, travelling by train (before the days of school buses). In 1957 he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and trained as an Airborne Radar Technician. In 1969 he retrained as an Airborne Electronics operator and served a tour in the CS2F (Tracker) aircraft and 2 tours on CP107 (Argus) aircraft. In 1984 he left the military and worked on the Canadian Patrol Frigate (City Class) program in Montreal Que. And Saint John, NB, retiring in 1992. Bill and his wife Harriet enjoyed travelling with his 5th wheel vehicle throughout North America. He was also a Ham Radio operator for 15 years and a past member of ACBL. Bill was a former member of the United Church of Canada and a founding member of the Emmanuel Congregational Christian Church, Middleton. Surviving are his beloved wife of 50 years the former Harriet Martineau; daughter Donna (Patrick) Lyson, Ottawa; sons Alan (Janie), Bridgetown, NS, Danny (Heather), Sarnia, ON as well as grandchildren Crystal, Brandon, Kristy, Gregory, Matthew, Maya, Justin, Faith and Harmony and 3 great grandchildren. Brother Leonard Lennie (Helen) Barkhouse, Stanley, Hants County; sisters Vera (Arthur) Sanford, Walton, Hants County, Helen (Wensol) Budiselich, Saskatoon, SK, Elva Geurts, Rawdon, NS and Elizabeth (Dana) Greenough, Woodville, Hants County and sister in law Doreen, Windsor and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters; Luella Madelon in infancy and Isabelle Lorna Barkhouse as well as brother Gilbert. At Bills request, there will be no visitation. Do to allergies, his family also request, no flowers. Donations in memory may be made to the Emmanuel Congregational Christian Church, Middleton or to Cancer Research. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 15th in the Emmanuel Congregational Christian Church, Middleton, Rev. Dr. William MacDougall officiating, immediately followed by a reception. Interment will be in Church Grove Cemetery, Melvern Square. The family wish to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Doctors and nursing staff at Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton and Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville for the care they provided to Bill.
