September 29, 1924 – August 3. 2020
William Gordon "Bill" Comer died quietly at his Kabileigh home on August 3, 2020, embraced by the love of his family. Born on September 29, 1924, he enjoyed a charmed childhood with his father William and mother Mary Ellen (Power), sisters Mary and Gertrude, and brother Gordon. His greatest joy was his beloved wife, Kathleen (Hoskin). On a foundation of faith and fortitude, they built a loving life together for 75 years, first in Woodside (Immaculate Conception Parish), then Dartmouth (St. Peter's Parish) and Porter's Lake, and lastly in Annapolis Valley (St. Monica's Church). They welcomed eight cherished children: John (Jennifer); James (Lucie); Mary (Brian) Crooks; Robert (Gayle); Katherine (Stephen) Gallagher; Teresa (John) Scalzo; Barry; Gary (Blythe); followed by the blessing of their spouses;14 grandchildren, Victoria (Konrad) Langenmaier; Katherine (Max) Fellows; Joshua (Heather); Ellen; Billy (Dominique); Danielle (Lucas) Djelic; Patrick; Nicholas; Jonathan; Michael; Kaleigh Ann (Justin) Smith; Peter, Laura, Sara; and 7great-grandchildren, Jack, Luke, Isaac, Charlotte, Cadence, Abigail, and soon to arrive, baby Smith. His business career, especially Comer Real Estate, and his wide-ranging hobbies reflected his bountiful energy, creativity, curiosity, humour, and zest for life-long learning. He valued honesty, integrity, and faithful friends and relatives who enriched his life. He was a responsible and grateful steward of God's precious gift of life. We are thankful for the respectful care and kindness of the clergy and parishioners of St. Monica's Church; Dr. Michele Saxon and Middleton Collaborative Practice; Continuing Care; VON Nurses and Care Aides; Senior Lincs; Pharmasave Home Health; Shopper's Pharmacy Team; and Middleton Funeral Home. If you wish to make a memorial donation, Corpus Christi Parish, VON Annapolis Valley Branch, Soldiers' Memorial Hospital Foundation, Mid-Valley Palliative Care, Caregivers Nova Scotia, and Parkinson's Society have helped us. Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Monica's Roman Catholic Church, Middleton with Fr. Keith Billard officiating.
