HOARE, William George "Bill" ~ Dartmouth, passed away on Friday, September 6, 2024, in Dartmouth General Hospital, after a brief battle with brain cancer. He was born on July 1, 1942, in Islington, ON, the son of the late William Hoare and Mildred (Geer) Hoare.
Bill joined the Royal Canadian Air Force at an early age and retired to Dartmouth, NS, in 1997 after a career of 37 1/2 years. In retirement he enjoyed gardening, reading, stamp collecting and his model railroad. In April 2024, he thoroughly enjoyed a father-daughter adventure with daughter Melanie to Cornwall, UK, where he was thrilled to meet cousins living in that area. In May, with wife Elaine, he attended the university graduation of granddaughter Kate in Fredericton, NB. His children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were dearly loved and the source of great pride and joy.
He is survived by his wife of 55 1/2 years, the former Elaine G. Hergett; sister, Grace McQuade, Markham, ON; daughters, Megann Willson (Stephen), Toronto, ON; and Melanie MacLean (Daniel), Harvey, NB; grandchildren, Stephanie Mellon (Paul), Toronto, ON; Michael Willson (Aline Onoe), Brossard, PQ; Kate MacLean, Mae MacLean, and Connor MacLean, all of Harvey, NB; great grandchildren, Sophie Onoe Willson and Amelie Onoe Willson, both of Brossard, PQ; sister-in-law, Yvonne Tuck, Komoka, ON; brother-in-law, Fred Whiteway, Trenton ON; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Bill was predeceased by his brother, Donald Hoare; sisters-in-law, Sylvia Hoare; Ardith Whiteway; and Betty Comeau; brothers- in-law, Roy McQuade; Robert Tuck; and William Comeau.
In keeping with Bill's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral. Burial took place following a private family ceremony that was held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, September 16, in Tremont Community Cemetery, Tremont, Annapolis Co., with Rev. Leon Langille officiating.
