The family of William "Ron" Osmond of Meadowvale, Annapolis Co., Nova Scotia, regret to announce his peaceful passing on Monday, July 8, 2024, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, with his family at his side.
Ron was born in Mouse Island, Newfoundland, on March 28, 1941. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Berthania Osmond; brother, Phillip; sisters, Ellen, Rose and Margaret; brothers-in-law, Gerald Lomond and Roland Kettle; and sisters-in-law, Beulah and Dulcie.
Ron worked at Marine Atlantic in Port-Aux-Basques, Newfoundland, for 33 years, retiring in 1992 when he moved to the Annapolis Valley.
He leaves to mourn his wife of 61 years, Mary; sons, Scott (Doris); Dean (Brenda); daughter, Ruth Welton (Danny); grandchildren, Sara (Scott), Andrew (Kellie), Aaron (Erin), Dustin (Stephanie), Angelisa, Dominik and MacKenzie; brothers, Arch (Ann), Ralph, Jerry (Susie), Alex (Karen), Charlie (Jessie) and John (Sarah); sister, Evelyn Kettle; brother, Wilson (Winnie); three great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Ron was very active in Kingston's Lion's Club, where he was a life member, serving on many committees, was President, Secretary, Membership Chairman and Visitation Chairman, and was a senior member of the Board of Directors. Ron was also involved in Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Middleton, Nova Scotia.
A lions club tribute will take place at 3:15 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 3:30 p.m., Thursday, July 11, both in Holy Trinity Anglican Church, 45 Main Street, Middleton, N.S. Rev. Sue Channen officiating, with interment in Holy Trinity Anglican Cemetery. A reception to follow in Kingston Lions Club, 1482 Veterans Lane, Kingston.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Middleton, or Kingston Lions Club. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, 1-855-825-3448. Online guest book may be signed by visiting: www.middletonfuneralhome.com
