RITCEY, Winifred Grace "Winnie" - age 87 of Paradise, NS passed away peacefully on Friday, September 4, 2015 at Grand View Manor, Berwick. Born in South Farmington, NS Winnie was a daughter of the late Wiley and Daisy (Johnson) Ritchie. Winnie was a retired Registered Nurse having worked at Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton after graduating from the Halifax Infirmary School of Nursing. She was a member of the Paradise United Baptist Church and also attended Middleton Baptist Church. Winnie lived most of her life in Paradise where she was a past member of the Paradise Women's Institute and was involved with Canadian Girls In Training (CGIT) and long-time volunteer for Canadian Cancer Society, Terry Fox Foundation and hosted the Teddy Bear Picnic for a number of years at her home in Paradise. She loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Winnie is survived by her son Peter Ritcey (Trina), Nictaux; sister, Shirley Harkies, Guelph, ON; grandchildren, Janet (Peter) Morse, Red Lake, ON; Joanne (Angus) Cruickshank, South Carolina; Adam (Rachel) Ritcey, Shelburne; great grandchildren Camryn, Zacary, Lochlan, Callum and Jenna and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband George; brothers, Forrest, Jack, Don; sisters Betty and Eva. Visitation will be held 2-4PM Monday, September 7, 2015 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street (902) 825-3448. Funeral service will be held 11:00AM Tuesday, September 8, 2015 in the Paradise United Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Reece officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow the service in the Paradise Community Hall. Private family interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Lawrencetown. Donations in Winnie's memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or Paradise United Baptist Church.
