Acker, Yvonne "Leona" - Age 79 of New Minas, Kings Co., NS passed away, suddenly at home Wednesday, May 10, 2017. Born in North River, Lunenburg Co. she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Roseanna (Robar) Acker. Leona was a kind, loving, caring and devoted mother to her family. She loved to celebrate holidays and family birthdays. Leona enjoyed working in her flower gardens, knitting and crocheting. She had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. Leona also enjoyed playing the guitar for her family and friends. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Harold) Weare, Caledonia; sons, Harold Acker, East River, NS, Curtis Acker, New Minas, Richard (Melanie) Acker, Lawrencetown, Anna. Co.; sister, Audrey(Kenneth) Banks, Wilmot, NS; brothers, Rod (Shirley) Acker, North River, Lawrence (Marilyn) Acker, Meadowvale; grandchildren, Allan, Jimmy, Christina, Melina, Felicia, Shawn, Nichols, Travis, Vanessa, Alyssa; great grandchildren, Olivia, Sidney, Ellie, Ysabel, Kaitlin, Austin and Ellie Rose. Leona was predeceased by her husband, Curtis Sr.; brother, Larry and Allen; sisters, Geraldine and Charlotte. There will be visitation from 6-8 pm Monday, May 15th, at the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., 902-825-3448 from where a Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, May 16th with Rev. Danny Smith officiating. Interment will be in the Springfield Cemetery. Donations in Leona's memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
